Ordering
We've provided you with a number of answers to common questions surrounding ordering. Please contact us if you cannot find the answer to your question.
Sure, we have a quick and easy way to order online with your credit card. Choose the product you want and add it to your shopping cart, then check out with Paypal.
Placing an order with someone is just as easy as placing it online. Just click Contact and use the phone number provided. We can also receive faxed orders.
Assuming we have the material in stock, we usually ship within 1-2 business days via UPS ground or USPS. If you would like shipping expedited, we offer express and 2nd day shipping as well. If you are a local company (within 75 miles) and are ordering at least 1 carton, we can ship to you with our express van, which we send out 2-3 times a week.
Standard UPS and USPS shipping rates apply. If you order online, the total should be tallied with your checkout. If you order over the phone or by fax, we can give you the total. If you are based locally (within 75 miles), and are ordering at least 1 carton, we charge $35.00 to ship via our express van.
Unless you are based locally (within 75 miles), we usually always charge freight. If you are local, freight is prepaid at $1,000.
You can return material if it has not been cut or used and is still in sellable condition. There is a 30% restocking fee and you will have to cover the cost of shipping it back to us. Full manufacturer's reels and cartons may not be returned if used/opened. AM Weather Guard can send samples or sell smaller quantities at a lesser cost if needed before buying.
Unfortunately much of our inventory is sold in lengths 96" or longer. We ship cut lengths straight if there is a chance of the seal or shape being compromised by bending or rolling it. You can request that material be rolled in the notes section of your order details if you would like to save on shipping and we will refund the difference once material ships.
We do refund shipping charges if there is an overcharged by the website shipping meter.
Standard tax charges apply on all our products, unless you have a resale certificate or are tax exempt. We will, of course, ask for proof of this upon purchase.
We can take a check, money order, or cashiers check. Orders do take longer by this method, as we don't usually send orders until after we've received payments.
We can order any profile in the Schlegel catalog. Additional freight charges and order premiums may apply. Call us and ask about it.

Quality
We understand the need for quality products. We're hear to answer any questions you have regarding quality. Please see our answers to common questions regarding quality.
We carry Schlegel™ brand products, which are known throughout the industry to be one of the most durable, and dependable products on the market. We can provide any technical information you might need on these products.
- Thermosets- These are nearly impervious to shrinkage and expansion. This means that the height and reach of the seal won't be compromised, and you will get the best possible seal out of your weatherstripping.
- Thermoplastics- Not as commonly used in construction these days, but are inexpensive at about half the price of a thermoset for the same amount of material. However, the shape and size of the material is compromised after a few years.
Application
Common questions regarding application of our products.
Most of our weather seal is a kerf seal, or is applied by inserting a barbed anchor into a channel. Most doors and windows have fairly standard kerf sizing. For doors, it's usually .125"x.500", and windows are .078"x.312". Although T-slot, and surface mounted weatherstripping is available, the majority of what we carry is a kerf seal.
It depends on what size door or window you have, here are a few standard sizes to help determine how much you will need:
- 3'0"wide x 6'8" high door= 17 feet or 3/82" pieces
- 3'0"wide x 7'0" high door= 17 feet or 2/86" and 1/82" pieces
- 3'0"wide x 8'0" high door= 19 feet or 2/97" and 1/82" pieces
Use the same numbers for 4 foot wide doors. For window applications, call for instructions.

Most of the seals we carry are thermosets, which are formed by chemical reaction. We also carry a few thermoplastics, which are formed by heat and pressure. Here is the difference between the two:
- Thermosets- these are composed of polyester, silicone, epox y, epdm, and polyurethane. These products are extremely resistant to memory set, or are rarely changed by heat and pressure.
- Thermoplastics- These are composed of polyvinylchloride(pvc), polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, and thermoplastic elastomers. These products have a higher probability of being permanently changed by heat, cold, and pressure.
Thermoplastics:
- APTUS (AP)
- POLY-FLEX (PF)
Thermosets:
- QEZD
- QEBD
- QWS
- QDS
Most of our door weatherstripping has a fire rating tested by UL™ laboratories: Your door frame and door needs to meet the applicable code as well. Check the UL™ website for more information. www.ul.com
